Hydra-Charge is our electrolyte drink mix: 5 key electrolytes, 1g of taurine, and less than 1g of sugar per scoop. For a few years, we sold it as Kaged Hydration. It's back under the Hydra-Charge name, with a new label.
Here are the questions we get most.
In this article, we’re going to cover all of the most common questions we get about Hydration.
Is Kaged Hydration the Same as Hydra-Charge?
Yes, it’s the same product, but with an updated name and label aesthetic.
In 2024, we simplified our product names and renamed Hydra-Charge to Hydration. But after hearing from you, we decided to switch back to the original name that you loved and recognized. So it's Hydra-Charge again, with an all-new label.

While our stock sells through, you might receive a tub labeled Hydra-Charge or one labeled Hydration. Either way, it's the same premium electrolyte powder inside.

How Many Scoops of Hydra-Charge Can I Have Per Day?
Up to 4 to 5. Each scoop has 5 calories, less than 1g of carbs, and 115mg of sodium, so a few scoops spread across the day won't load you up on sugar or salt.
On a long training day or a hot one, have two scoops at once. That's 230mg of sodium. Even five scoops over a full day adds up to 575mg, still less than what some high-sodium packets put in a single serving.
Is 115mg of Sodium in Hydra-Charge Enough?
For everyday hydration, yes. We did that on purpose.
Sodium is the main electrolyte you lose in sweat, which is why a lot of electrolyte packets carry 500 to 1,000mg per serving. That makes sense for a marathon. It makes less sense for a Tuesday at your desk or during a typical strength training workout, because most of us already get plenty. The average American eats about 3,400mg of sodium a day, against a recommended limit of 2,300mg.
So we dosed Hydra-Charge to replace what you sweat out without piling onto what you already eat. That's what lets you drink it all day. And when you need more, a second scoop gets you there.
Does Hydra-Charge Have Caffeine?
No meaningful amount. Hydra-Charge is stimulant-free, but the SPECTRA™ antioxidant blend contains trace caffeine, capped at 1.2mg per scoop. For comparison, a cup of decaf has about 2mg.
What If Hydra-Charge Tastes Too Sweet? Not Sweet Enough?
We recommend mixing one scoop of Kaged Hydration in 10-14 ounces of water. If it tastes too sweet for your liking, the solution is simple: add more water. If it’s not sweet enough, next time add a little bit less water.
What If I Don’t Love This Flavor of Hydra-Charge?
It comes in 12 delicious but distinct flavors. If you tried one and didn’t love it, reach out to our team, opens in a new tab, and we’ll see what we can do to get you a tub of another flavor.
Can I Stack Hydra-Charge with Other Supplements?

Yes. In fact, we recommend using Hydration as the base for your custom stack. It’s the foundation of our “Mix Your Own” (MYO) System. At Kaged, we provide high-quality unflavored powders designed to be mixed with Hydration.
- Creatine HCl
- CreaClear™, opens in a new tab
- BCAAs, opens in a new tab
- Citrulline, opens in a new tab
- Glutamine, opens in a new tab
Mix and match these depending on your need and make a custom pre or intra-workout drink.
What About Hydration Elite?
In early 2025 we discontinued Hydration Elite.
While Hydration Elite had a few unique ingredients that made it a better product to take during training than the original Hydration, we learned from you that you preferred the original Hydra-Charge. Hydra-Charge had more flavors and a better price point.
If you loved Hydration Elite, we recommend you simply take two scoops of Hydra-Charge, which delivers the additional electrolytes we had in Hydration Elite.
What is Hydra-Charge Sweetened With?
Hydra-Charge contains less than 1g of sugar and is sweetened with a combination of natural stevia and sucralose.
We know adding sucralose to our products is controversial, but we stand by the science.
If we see research shift in a big direction we would consider removing it. However, sucralose has been approved for use and continually researched for over 25 years.
The current research suggests that adverse effects are highly unlikely at normal doses.
Let’s dig into this.
Addressing the Sucralose Controversy
The safe limit for sucralose has been set at 5mg/kg per day. For a 150lb person, that’s 340mg. One packet of brand-name sucralose has only 12mg.
So if you’re a 150lb person, you would need to consume 28 packets of sucralose to go above the safe limit. And remember, Hydra-Charge contains a mix of natural stevia and sucralose.
As they say, the poison is in the dose.
For example, caffeine is proven safe... at certain doses. Humanity consumes well over a billion servings of caffeine per day. But if you were to have 28 cups of coffee, you would be at risk for serious health complications and possibly find yourself in an emergency situation.
Want to Skip Sucralose Anyway? We Have a New Option
Some of you asked for a version without it, so we made one. Hydra-Charge Sucralose-Free is sweetened with cane sugar and stevia. There are times during training when sugar makes sense. This version contains 3g of sugar and 20 calories.
